{"id":83536,"date":"2020-03-24T22:31:46","date_gmt":"2020-03-25T03:31:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/persian-heritage.com\/wordpress\/?p=79762"},"modified":"2020-04-11T13:55:28","modified_gmt":"2020-04-11T18:55:28","slug":"businesses-post-covid-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/PERSIAN-HERITAGE.COM\/en\/2020\/03\/24\/businesses-post-covid-19\/","title":{"rendered":"Businesses Post-COVID-19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-79763 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/persian-heritage.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/EnglishWEB-7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"290\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>VOA &#8211; NEW YORK &#8211; New York\u2019s governor said Monday that he is beginning to explore how the state will restart its economy, once the worst of the coronavirus pandemic has passed.\u00a0\u202f\u00a0 \u201cI am very proud of the measures we have taken to address this public health crisis,\u201d Andrew Cuomo told reporters in the state capital, Albany. \u201cBut I am also very aware that it is unsustainable to run this state \u2013 or run this country \u2013 with the economy closed down.\u201d\u00a0 \u00a0 In 2017, New York had a GDP of more than $1.5 trillion, accounting for 8% of the national total, according to the New York State Comptroller\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>The state of 19.5 million is entering its first full week\u00a0in which\u00a0non-essential businesses\u00a0are\u00a0shut down and many residents are anxious about how long they may be cut off from work and paychecks.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo said he is appointing two individuals from the private sector to start planning how New York will restart business and economic activity once the situation has stabilized.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe implemented New York Pause \u2013 which stopped all the essential workers\u00a0\u2014\u00a0we have to start to think about New York Forward,\u201d the governor said. \u201cHow do you restart\u00a0\u2014\u00a0or transition to a restart of the economy\u00a0\u2014\u00a0and how do you dovetail that with a public health strategy?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As coronavirus cases statewide crossed the 20,000 threshold Monday with 157 deaths, it is unlikely things will return to business as usual anytime soon.
