They will\u00a0also make history as the first astronauts to\u00a0go\u00a0into space in a\u00a0privately-funded\u00a0spacecraft.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The two are scheduled to blast off\u00a0atop a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/image-feature\/spacex-rocket-prepared-for-demo-2-mission\/\">SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket<\/a>, bound for the International Space Station.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hurley was a crew member on the final shuttle flight launched from the space center July 4, 2011. He told reporters it\u00a0was \u201cincredibly humbling\u201d to be there for the restart of manned\u00a0space launches\u00a0from the United States.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Behnken called it\u00a0\u201can\u00a0opportunity but also a responsibility for the American people, for the SpaceX team, for all of NASA.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Hurley and Behnken\u00a0are scheduled\u00a0to\u00a0dock\u00a0at\u00a0the International Space Station\u00a0on the 28th. The two\u00a0still don\u2019t know how long they\u2019ll spend at the space station.
