Texas listened to the\u00a0Wall Street Journal. Arizona listened to the\u00a0Wall Street Journal\u00a0and the\u00a0New York Post. That was wrong. That was wrong.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo\u00a0said\u00a0500 people\u00a0tested\u00a0positive\u00a0and three died\u00a0Saturday\u00a0in New York\u00a0while the\u00a0new cases in Florida, Texas and Arizona\u00a0number\u00a0in\u00a0the\u00a0thousands.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0New York Post\u00a0editorial\u00a0Sunday\u00a0night\u00a0blamed\u00a0Cuomo&#8217;s\u00a0administration\u00a0for an order in March that nursing\u00a0homes\u00a0accept patients\u00a0even if they have COVID-19,\u00a0a policy the newspaper called\u00a0\u201cnuts\u201d and possibly responsible for needless deaths.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we\u2019re annoying him that much, it means one thing\u00a0\u2014\u00a0he knows we\u2019re right,\u201d the paper\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Florida reported another 9,300 COVID-19 cases Sunday,\u00a0moving\u00a0it\u00a0into second\u00a0place among U.S. states with the\u00a0highest\u00a0number of cases.\u00a0California,\u00a0the most populous U.S. state,\u00a0is on top;\u00a0New York\u00a0is third followed by Texas.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Health experts blame the\u00a0leap\u00a0in the number of\u00a0cases\u00a0on businesses and public\u00a0attractions\u00a0reopening too soon and not enough people wearing masks and social distancing.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"embedded-entity align-left div\" role=\"group\">\n<div data-embed-button=\"wysiwug_image\" data-entity-embed-display=\"view_mode:media.embedded\" data-entity-type=\"media\" data-entity-uuid=\"5cda236a-74d7-49be-8bfb-056b2455ac25\" data-langcode=\"en\">\n<figure class=\"media media--type-image media--view-mode-\">\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/im-media.voltron.voanews.com\/Drupal\/01live-166\/styles\/sourced_410px_wide\/s3\/2020-07\/AP_20199666444615_0.jpg?itok=wTRRRxgY\" alt=\"Health care workers take information from people in line at a walk-up COVID-19 testing site during the coronavirus pandemic,\u2026\" width=\"410\" height=\"273\" \/><\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<\/div><figcaption>Health care workers take information from people in line at a walk-up COVID-19 testing site during the coronavirus pandemic, in Miami Beach, Fla., July 17, 2020.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The manager of Major League Baseball\u2019s Miami Marlins\u00a0postponed\u00a0his team\u2019s return to Florida\u00a0by\u00a0one day, meaning\u00a0instead\u00a0of being able to practice for the team\u2019s\u00a0opening\u00a0home\u00a0game\u00a0against the Baltimore Orioles\u00a0on\u00a0Monday, the Marlins will arrive at the ballpark just\u00a0hours\u00a0before the game.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Several\u00a0Marlins\u00a0players who tested positive for COVID-19 are in\u00a0quarantine\u00a0in Philadelphia.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere&#8217;s nothing we can really do,\u201d Marlins pitcher\u00a0Robert\u00a0Dugger said. \u201cIt&#8217;s out of our control. We just do the best we can with the masks and social distancing and all that, and hope for the best.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Baseball opened its 2020 season last week, three\u00a0months\u00a0late, and will play 60 games instead of the usual 162. Fans are, for now, not\u00a0allowed\u00a0in the ballparks.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Spain is safe for tourists, it said Sunday, rebuking Britain for imposing a two-week quarantine on all travelers entering the country from Spain because of the coronavirus pandemic.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Spain is safe, it is safe for Spaniards, it is safe for tourists,&#8221; Foreign Minister\u00a0Arancha\u00a0Gonzalez\u00a0Laya\u00a0told reporters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She said Spain would try to persuade Britain to exclude the Balearic and Canary Islands from the quarantine measure, contending that the prevalence of the virus in the two popular travel destinations was much lower than in Britain itself.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A year ago, Britons made up about a fifth of foreign visitors to Spain, meaning the British quarantine could deal a blow to the Mediterranean country\u2019s efforts to jump start its economy after months of lockdown because of the virus.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But the number of COVID-19 cases has risen in Spain in the last few weeks, prompting Britain to announce late Saturday it was taking Spain off its safe-travel list. Hours later, the quarantine took effect.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It immediately upset travelers, with one British tourist saying, \u201cEveryone is panicking.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>South Africa reported 12,000 new coronavirus cases Sunday. Its response to the pandemic, however, is being hampered by corruption allegations surrounding its $26 billion economic relief package.
